The Luftwaffe’s invasion of the British Mainland, the Battle of Britain, consumed a large number of British fighters in the early part of the war; the ATA’s mission was to airlift supplies, fighter jets and large bombers to the battlefield, and these missions were mostly flown by female pilots.
