A contract for the production of three prototype aircraft was signed in April 1944, and the first prototype made its maiden flight in February 1945. However, it crashed in May of the same year due to jet engine malfunctions. Prototypes 2 and 3 underwent modifications based on test data from the first prototype, including relocating the horizontal stabilizer above the vertical stabilizer. This aircraft recorded a speed of 755 km/h when using both the reciprocating and jet engines, and its range was nearly double that of aircraft powered solely by jet engines, indicating positive test results. However, issues such as low stability during flight and increased maintenance burdens due to the combination of two different types of engines raised concerns. Ultimately, with improvements in jet engine capabilities rendering the hybrid power system unnecessary, the project was canceled in 1947.- 36 pages – Softcover – Text: English – Dimensions: 21.6 cm x 27.95 cm – Photos: 87 in black and white, 4 in color – Illustrations: 11 – Commentary by: Steve Ginter *Please note that due to manufacturer circumstances, the scheduled arrival month and actual product specifications may change.
