The Britannia is a long-distance turboprop 4-passenger aircraft developed by Bristol in the U.K., aiming to succeed the Douglas DC-4. Its first flight was in 1952, and it gained the nickname “Whispering Giant” for its quiet, smooth operation. It operated chiefly on the London-to-Sydney and London-to-Tokyo line in 1957; a total of 85 of this aircraft were produced.
