The Kamov KA-29 Russian helicopter was developed by the Kamov Experimental Design Bureau in the beginning of the 1980s. It is intended for landing of marine units from ships and their fire support. The helicopter also can be used for transportation of cargo and military equipment on the external sling, for medical evacuation, for airlift of personnel and cargo from mother ships and supply vessels to warships.
Fifty-nine Ka-29 were manufactured from 1984 to 1991. They were adopted by the Soviet Naval Aviation and were based on the Project 1174 (Nosorog) class large landing ships.
