This kit from Avis is a completely new mold! The Hawker Signet was an ultra-lightweight biplane designed for the 1924 light aircraft race sponsored by the Royal Flying Club. This was the first aircraft designed by Sydney Camm, who later became famous for designing the Hawker Hurricane. Two of this aircraft were built; Unit 2 was equipped with an ABS Skorpion engine. After finishing third and fourth in the 1924 race, the Signet won the 100-mile race the following year, and finished second in the 50-mile race. In 1926, Units 1 and 2 both had their engines replaced with a Bristol Cherub engine. Signet Unit 1 is currently on display at the Cosford Air Force Museum in the United Kingdom.
