1/72 Miles M.5A Sparrowhawk “Schlesinger Race 1936”

Description

This is a resin-cast aircraft kit.

The M.5 Sparrowhawk was a single-seat race plane developed from the Miles Hawk double-seat liaison plane to participate in the 1935 King’s Cup Air Race.

The M.5 won the speed prize for the highest speed in the King’s Cup Air Race, but the Sparrowhawk finished ninth overall in the race because the other participants were handicapped.

Five mass-produced M.5As were subsequently built, one of which participated in the 1936 Schlesinger African Air Race between Portsmouth, England and Johannesburg, South Africa.

Etching parts, transparent film for instrument panel and one type of decal are included.
