The IIIF is a reconnaissance/daytime bomber designed and manufactured by Fairey in the United Kingdom. The prototype N.10 made its maiden flight in 1917; the improved IIID was developed after a small number of IIIA, B and C were produced, and the definitive IIIF version made its maiden flight in 1926. During the interwar period, more than 600 aircraft were produced, making it the second most used aircraft in the British Army after the Hawker Hart. The Royal Air Force operated it in large numbers in colonies in North Africa and the Middle East, and the Fleet Air Arm installed it as carrier-based aircraft on aircraft carriers, battle cruisers and cruisers until the mid-1930s. It was used as a target tug until 1941.
