This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
Hasegawa combines a new-tool fuselage with parts from their previous Ki-61 Hien release to produce the short-nosed Ki-61-I type Hei. This kit features a beautifully detailed cockpit with the separate sidewall inserts that Hasegawa has been using recently, as well as complete belly radiator detail. The parts from the previous Hien kit are just as good, crisply molded with sharp, recessed panel lines. Decals are for 3 aircraft: the colorful mottled aircraft shown in the box art, of the 244th Sentai’s Capt. Teruhiko Kobayashi, as well as two natural-metal aircraft, one of the 56th Sentai on Cheju Island and one of the 18th Sentai at Chofu Airfield. Highly recommended for fans of Japanese fighters or Daimler-Benz-powered aircraft!
