With the venerable Tomcat currently being phased out, there are a flurry of “last cruise” decal variation kit releases by various manufacturers in various scales hitting the shops recently. Here we have Hasegawa’s fine 1/72 rendition of the F-14D Tomcat, combined with some excellent Cartograf decals to represent two aircraft from US Navy fighter squadron VF-213, the famous “Blacklions.” The kit features fine engraved panel lines, positionable (but not swingable) swing wings, and a nice fret of photo-etched parts.
