This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.

Hobby Boss continues their 1/48 scale Yak-38 family with the only other variant possible, the Yak-38U two-seat trainer. U for “Ugly”? It is certainly a homely beast, the drooped forward fuselage may have helped pilot visibility but it makes the whole plane look “broke”. Features detailed cockpits, optional-position main engine nozzles, optional open and closed doors for the lift engines, wings that could be folded with some careful cutting and fabrication of hinges (plates to close off the ends are included in the kit), underwing pylons and armament options including gun pods, rocket pods and air-to-air missiles. Markings are given for Russian and Ukrainian examples.
