The EA-18G Growler is the latest evolution of the popular F/A-18F Super Hornet, designed especially for electronic warfare. VAQ-130, also known as the “Zappers,” transitioned to the Growler in 2011. The “Zappers” are part of Carrier Air Wing Three, which currently embarked aboard the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75). One of the squadron’s first Growler operations in 2012 was participating in a War of 1812 Commemoration Exercise.
