The Boeing 720 passenger plane, a modification of the famous transcontinental airliner, the Boeing 707, was developed in 1959 for regional and medium-haul air flights. In total 65 planes were constructed, which were used by many American airlines. After 12 years of operation by United Airlines, the very first serial Boeing 720 was bought by actor Bobby Sherman and refashioned as a luxurious VIP jet for musical performers. The plane received its own name, Starship One, and was used from 1973 to 1977 as a musician’s VIP transport.
