This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
Limited reissue of the Hasegawa 1/48 scale F6F kit with decals to mark it as any of the four F6F-5 Hellcats flown by the Blue Angels in 1946. The painting guide says to paint the model in “Navy Blue”, Gunze’s name for Non-Specular Sea Blue, but this is incorrect. These aircraft were apparently painted in a special mix of Gloss Sea Blue with a little Non-Specular Sea Blue thrown in to lighten the mixture. They were not quite the same color as “Blue Angels Blue”, also sold by Gunze and a good match for modern BA aircraft, but probably pretty close, maybe a bit darker.
