This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
Eduard reissues its “plastic only” kit of the Roland C.II. The Walfisch got its name from the whale-like lines of its beefy but very aerodynamic fuselage. The C.II was a full 30 km/h faster than more traditionally designed German fighters with the same engine; however, this increase in top speed came at the expense of handling, a higher stall speed, and decreased downward visibility for the pilot, all leading to a higher rate of landing accidents.
This kit comes with all the detail we’ve come to expect from Eduard, with complete pilot’s and gunner’s cockpits and a beautiful engine, most of which will sadly not be visible after assembly. Rigging is minimal, which comes as a relief to those of us who dislike it! Decals are for the pictured machine, A186, flown by Lt. T.P.H. Bayetto of No. 60 Squadron.
