The Bombardier CRJ-900 made its maiden flight in 2001; it was a 90-seat aircraft that was an extended version of the CRJ-700 with an increased cabin and cargo compartment capacity. To cope with the weight increase due to the extension of the fuselage, the engines were changed to the GE CF34-85C, and the landing gear, brakes, and wing structure were strengthened.
