The Provost is a fixed-gear, low-wing, monoplane two-seat basic trainer aircraft that replaced the Royal Air Force’s Percival Prentiss in the 1950s. When it entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1953, it showed higher performance and maneuverability than its predecessor, the Prentiss. In addition to the trainer version, there were also the unarmed export version, the T.51, and the armed export version, the T.52/53, which were deployed in the Commonwealth countries and protectorates at the time.
