The Soviet La-5FN was the definite version of the La-5 series. This wooden aircraft first saw combat in the Battle of Kursk and was considered as an “equal” to the German BF-109G6. With the arrival of the La-5’s and later La-7, the era of the domination on the eastern front by Luftwaffe fighters was over.
A total of 10,003 of the La-5 series was built durin 1942-1944.
