The MiG-23MLD is the final fighter type of the MiG-23 series. This aircraft had a vortex generator attached to the pitot tube in the nose, and a new overhang on the leading edge of the fixed part of the main wing to generate a powerful vortex when flying at a large angle of attack, increasing the limit at the angle of attack and improving maneuverability. This gave the aircraft improved performance.
