The Praga E.39 was a trainer aircraft first flown in 1931 and widely used throughout the 1930s and early 1940s. They were used both as trainers and as reconnassaince aircraft by the Luftwaffe throughout the war. This is yet another very nicely done kit by RS Models, with well-done cockpit and engine detail. Numerous small details are provided for on the photoetched fret included. Windscreens are vacuformed pieces. Some minor surgery will be needed if you wish to build the E.39.18 variant, as the inter-wing struts were straight pieces as opposed to the “N” shaped struts of other versions. Not a difficult conversion at all. Some minor reshaping of the MLG struts is also need for clearance around the wing LE, but this is clearly shown in the instructions, again not a problem for anyone with a set of small files. Markings are provided for no less than 8 aircraft: E 39.79 “G4” of the Czech A.F.; E 39.76 “E18” of the Czech A.F.; E 39.65 “4” of the Czech A.F.; E 39.21 “M11” of the Czech A.F.; E 39.56 of the Slovak A.F. in pre-war markings; E 39 “S-53” of the Slovak Air Force in wartime markings; E 39.126 of the Slovak A.F. in wartime markings and E 39 in Czech markings from 1944.
