Sopwith F.1 Camel (w/Bentley) a major modification of the best known and most successful Allied fighter of World War One was with the new Bentley B.R.1 engine, developed by British engineer Walter Bentley in 1917. Due to the increase in the powerplant’s capacity of some ten horsepower in comparison with the well known Cierget 9B rotary engine, the Camel had a much improved basic performance and could combat the best German fighters of the final period of the Great War on equal terms.
