No.209 is the expanded and revised edition of No.148 “Grumman F8F Bearcat” published in March 2012.

If the Pacific War had lasted longer than it did, the F8F Bearcat would surely have been named the best reciprocating fighter of World War II.

In addition to detailing the development of the F8F Bearcat, its various models, deployed units, weapon systems, and postwar air racer performance, the book also examines its confrontation with the IJN’s Zero successor, the Rikaze, from an aerodynamic standpoint.

The book is supplemented with additional color pages including side views, photographs, and cutaway (dissection) drawings of the Racer, and some of the explanatory articles have been revised.
